A flint retouched blade of uncertain date, Mesolithic to early Bronze Age, 10000 BC - 1000 BC. It is formed on a patinated tertiary blade with large cream inclusions. It is sub-rectangular with convex side and a pointed distal end. There are parallel removals along the dorsal face. The right edge is damaged, but may have been retouched. A small area of undamaged retouch survives on the left side near the distal end. It is short, abrupt sub-parallel retuch. The flint is patinated to white and is 52.2mm long, 21.7mm wide and 6.4mm thick. 8.4g.

A Mesolithic retouched flint blade dating from 10,000 - 4000 BC. It is a tertiary blade struck on semi-translucent dark brown flint. It is rectangular with a double dorsal ridge. The distal end has some scaled, abrupt, short retouch, perhaps to form a scraping edge, and there is some sporadic retouch or edge damage on the long edges, with more careful working at the proximal ends of the sides. This is also abrupt, scaled and short. There is also a small removal right across the ventral face at the proximal end. The blade is 38.1mm long, 13.9mm wide, 4.3mm thick and weighs 2.64g.

A flint retouched blade of uncertain date, Mesolithic to Bronze Age, 9000 BC - 1000 BC. It is formed on a thick blade of opaque dark grey cherty flint. The left edge has short, abrupt, sub-parallel retouch. The left side of the dorsal face has several removal scars at right angles to the blade, suggesting it is debitage that has been utilised. This is more typical of flints from the later Neolithic onwards. Though the blade is the right size for a Mesolithic group A microlith, the shape and working do not match. The object is 38.8mm long, 13mm wide and 6.4mm thick. 3.2g.

A flint retouched flake of uncertain date, probably late Bronze Age to early Iron Age 1000 BC - AD 0. It is formed on a tertiary flake of partially patinated tan flint which is perhaps a natural flake since it does not have an obvious bulb of percussion or striking platform. The flake is ovoid, narrower at one end. Treating the narrower end as the distal end, there is an area of short, sub-parallel, abrupt retouch at the distal end of the right side. The flake is 34.7mm long, 25mm wide and 7.3mm thick. 7.7g.

Object type: RETOUCHED FLAKE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: North Yorkshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A flint retouched flake of probable neolithic date, about 4000 BC - 2200 BC. It is a secondary flake of tan to light grey coloured flint, with cortex on the distal end. The proximal end has been extensively worked, removing the striking platform. There is a small area of neat short, sub-parallel, abrupt retouch at the distal end of the right side, and in the middle of the right side is a removal along the right edge which forms a possible denticulate. The flint is partially patinated. The object is 27.3mm long, 24.8mm wide and 7.9mm thick. It weighs 6.11g.

Retouched flint flake of Neolithic to Bronze Age date. Sub-triangular in plan and orange in colour with white inclusions. There are conchoidal fracture marks on the ventral face of the flint; these are spread out and so imply a soft blow method of production such as the use of a bone implement. There are further fracture marks along two edges of the flake, on the dorsal side only; these are small along the very edge with larger pieces flaked off towards the centre of the flake on one edge, representing two stages of reshaping. On the other retouched edge the flakes are slightly larger…
