County: Kent
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Prehistoric probably late Neolithic- Early Bronze Age. Sub-triangular, convex/convex medium size, knapped, variable stripy grey/pale grey tertiary debitage. Bulb of percussion with large platform-formed by a hard hammer and some force with feint conchoidal ripple marks and a prominent stepped distal hinge fracture. There are two main flake beds on the dorsal surface with negative ripples. There are a number of relatively recent edge chips due to agricultural machinery damage rather than retouch. This is likely to date between 2500-1500BC. Ref. Detector Finds 5, Gordon B…

Object type: DEBITAGE
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Kent
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A single flint probable waste flake (debitage) of uncertain prehistoric date.
Description: The flake is roughly teardrop shaped with a wide base and striking platform. Clear conchoidal rippling and bulb of percussion, partly obscured by patination. Little evidence of secondary working or retouching. The heavy patination leaves the flake a white colour, suggesting the flint has been in the soil for a long time.
Measurements: 43.01mm long, 28.77mm wide, 7.28mm thick and 8g in weight.

Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Kent
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A rounded flint scraper likely of Neolithic date (c.4000-2000 BC).
Description: The scraper is roughly teardrop shaped with a long rounded and wide unworked ventral face. The bulb of percussion and conchoidal scarring (rippling) on the ventral face is quite pronounced which suggests hard hammer technology, usually associated with flint technology of the Palaeolithic and after the middle of the Neolithic. The majority of the edge has short, scaled semi-abrupt retouch struck from the dorsal face. The flint is opaque mid-brown and beige, quite mottled.

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A complete but probably unfinished and consequently rather thick flint Arrowhead of Bronze Age date (2500-1200 BC).
The object is of barbed and tanged form and is sub-triangular in plan and plano-convex in section. The object has short abrupt covering retouch removed by pressure flaking. Object type: LITHIC IMPLEMENT
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Kent
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
An incomplete, Prehistoric probable Neolithic-Mid Bronze Age, knapped or flaked, white with orange spot, now rounded rhombiodal shaped secondary debitage or waste flake/chip. This was probably vesica or 'almond' shaped before breakage. There is a bulb of percussion, medium size striking platform but no ripples on the slightly convex ventral surface. There are two main flake beds and a few minor ones on the dorsal surface with a spot of cortex remaining. This is likely to date between 2500BC-1150BC. Ref. Object type: CLEAVER
Broad period: PALAEOLITHIC
County: Kent
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Flint bifacial cleaver made on a Levallois flake with a U-shaped (Wymer Type H) form in plan, and a lozenge-shaped profile with a straight edge (Wymer Type e), dating from the Middle Palaeolithic period. The cleaver has a straight transverse cutting edge at the distal end opposite to the curved butt end (Wymer Type b) at the proximal end which has partly been removed by an invasive flake, perhaps to remove the natural fault in the flint which remains as a patch of white cortex. The cleaver edge has been formed by the removal of tranchet flakes from the right lateral edge of the ventra…
