A flint end scraper of likely Mesolithic date, dating to c.9000-3450 BC. Description: The flint is rectangular in plan and triangular in one cross section. and ovoid in the other. This is due to the ridge running along the body of the scraper, with either side sloping away from it to obverse edges with  short, stepped and low-angle retouch. The edges are still sharp to the touch. The top and bottom faces are flat with some very light retouch at the top. Concoidal rippling and negative flake scars are visible on the body. The reverse of the flint is f…

A rounded flint scraper likely of Neolithic date (c.4000-2000 BC). Description: The scraper is roughly teardrop shaped with a long rounded and wide unworked ventral face. The bulb of percussion and conchoidal scarring (rippling) on the ventral face is quite pronounced which suggests hard hammer technology, usually associated with flint technology of the Palaeolithic and after the middle of the Neolithic. The majority of the edge has short, scaled semi-abrupt retouch struck from the dorsal face. The flint is opaque mid-brown and beige, quite mottled. Measureme…

A large possible lower-middle Palaeolithic flint scraper. Description: The object is formed from an irregular flint flake triangular in cross-section. The dorsal face is quite high which helps form this cross section. The bulb of percussion on the reverse is fairly shallow although the discoidal rippling is very pronounced. There is a removal flake across where the bulb of percussion which suggest a level of shaping. The wide outside edge of the tool appears to be the working edge with short scaled abrupt retouch along a small section abutting the striking platform end. The rest …

A coarse flint scraper likely dating to the late Bronze Age or Iron age c.1000BC - 0BC . Description: The scraper was produced from a broken elongated ovoid primary flake (indicated by the substantial cortex remaining on the dorsal face) from a larger possibly naturally shattered flint (indicated by the multiple step and pitted like fractures on the part sof the edges). The flaking has left substantially conchoidal ripples on both sides of the flint and a substantial bulb of percussion on the ventral face, indicating hard hammer (stone on stone rather than antler, bone or padded …

An irregular flint scraper of uncertain date, possibly of Neolithic to Bronze Age date (c.4000-1000 BC). Description: The scraper is irregular shaped, with one concave rounded edge, an opposite convex edge and one pointed shouldered flat edge. It is formed from a secondary flake. The flaking along both facing edges, the bulb of percussion and conchoidal scarring (rippling) on the ventral face is very pronounced which suggest hard hammer technology. The rounded corner between the curved convex edge and the long edge with cortex has scaled semi-abrupt retouch struck from the dorsal…

A flint scraper likely of mesolithic to early Neolithic date (c.9000 - 3300 BC), utilising an earlier flake. Description: The scraper is sub-triangular in shape with a wider outter slighlty concave edge, an inner convex edge and a wide body. It is formed from a tertiary flake. There is retouch along the convex edge bifacially worked formed by short very regular scaled semi-abrupt removals. The short edge has some less regular short retouch creating a bit of a longer boring point. There is some more invasive retouch along the outer edge. The bulb of percussion is fairly subtle althou…

A flint scraper likely of Bronze age date (c. 2200 - 800 BC), utilising an earlier flake. Description: The scraper is sub-rectangular in shape with one slightly wider corner. It is formed from a secondary flake with some cortex remaining at the distal end. There is a retouch along the right hand edge formed of short very irregular scaled semi-abrupt removals. This retouch goes through flint that is begining to recorticate indicating this retouch occured a substantial amount of time after the production of the flake. The opposite edge has short scaled abrupt retouch which is patinat…
