A Post Medieval gunflint dating from about AD 1600 - 1900. It is rectangular in plan with three longitudinal factes on the dorsal face. The distal end is concave. All the edges have short,scaled, abrupt removals. Measurements are; length 29.4mm, width 22.7mm, thickness 7.0mm and weight 6.0g.

A gunflint dating from the Post Medieval period, about 1650-1850. Knapped from a translucent dark brown flint, the object is rectangular in plan with a trapezoidal section, forming the characteristic truncated pyramid shape. There is a semi-circular notch one third of the way along the leading edge. Its size suggests it was used in a flintlock pistol, having a length of 21.10mm, a width of 14.70mm and a thickness of 5.23mm. It weighs 2.26g.

A gunflint dating from the Post Medieval period, about 1650-1850. Knapped from a translucent dark brown flint, the object is rectangular in plan with a trapezoidal section, forming the characteristic truncated pyramid shape; although this example has breaks on two of its edges. There is a semi-circular notch one third of the way along the leading edge. Its size suggests it was used in a flintlock musket, having a length of 25.07mm, a width of 22.79mm and a thickness of 6.97mm. It weighs 5.47g.

A flint Post Medieval gunflint dating from AD 1600 - 1900. It is formed on dark grey flint and is a transverse piece of a blade. It is rectangular in plan, and in the form of a truncated square pyramid. All four edges have short, abrupt, scaled retouch. It i s 21mm long, 23.6mm wide and 4.7mm thick. 3.91g. It would have been used in a flintlock mechanism firearm such as a musket or pistol.

Three post-medieval/modern gun-flints from a flintlock musket dating from AD 1650 - 1850. The flints are rectangular in plan and trapezoid in cross-section, one face sloping more shallowly. The edge of this longer side has a notch in the centre on two of the examples. The flint is dark-grey in colour.
A. 34.1mm long, 31.2mm wide and 8.9mm thick. 14.33g.

A post-medieval gun-flint from a flintlock musket. The flint is rectangular in plan and trapezoidal in section. The flint is tan coloured. It has short, sub-parallel, semi-abrupt retouch on all four sides. It is 18.2mm long, 18.1mm wide and 6mm thick. 2.54g.

A post-medieval to modern gunflint from a flint lock rifle dating to the 17th - 19th centuries. The gunflint is sub-square in plan and appears complete. The flint has been knapped around the edges in order to get the correct shape. The distal edge is thinner and the flint is triangular in section. All of the edges are relatively straight. The flint used is a dark grey in colour.
