Complete lithic implement formed from a flint flake, dating to late Neolithic or early Bronze Age, c. 2700 - 1600 BC. The implement is a scraper, formed from a tertiary flake, which is roughly triangular plan and D-shaped in section. It is bifacially worked with retouch on both ventral and dorsal faces. The ventral surface features percussion lines with instances of invasive scaled semi-abrupt retouch around the surface edges. The dorsal surface also displays invasive scaled semi-abrupt retouch. The flint is a mottled-grey colour …

Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: East Riding of Yorkshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A complete knapped lithic implement of early Neolithic date, c. 4000 - 3500 BC. The object is a serrated blade or saw which is broadly rectanuglar in plan and triangular in section. The ventral surface is smooth with visible ripples of percussion. One edge of the dorsal surface features invasive scaled semi-abrupt retouch. The other edge has been finely and steeply retouched to create a saw tooth serrated edge along the entire length. The top of the implement features a horizontal break. The flint is a mid grey colour with occasional lighter inclusions. T…

A complete knapped lithic implement of Neolithic date, c. 4000 - 2300 BC. The implement is a thumbnail or rounded scraper, formed from a secondary flake which is D-shaped in section and roughtly oval in plan. The ventral surface is smooth with clear ripples of percussion suggesting the hard hammer technique was used in its removal. The dorsal surface displays abrupt scaled invasive retouch around the distal edge. The flint is a mottled-grey colour with pebble cortex on just part of the dorsal face. The implement is 26.42mm long, 21.03mm wide, 9.83mm thick and weigh…
