Complete flint thumbnail scraper made from a secondary flake. The object survives in good condition with only a small amount of plough damage to all edges. Cortex covers the flat proximal end. The dorsal face has four flaking scars and the left, right and distal edges show semi-abrupt retouch. The removals are long and sub-parallel. The ventral face is smooth but uneven with no obvious bulb of percussion. The flint is mid-grey in colour and of poor quality. However, the ventral face has a slightly milky patina suggesting that the object may be an example of later reworking following e…

A flint thumbnail scraper made from a secondary flake. There is a small amount of plough damage to all edges. Pebble cortex still covers the flat proximal end. The dorsal face has a large flaking scar at the proximal end, with another smaller one to the left. Around these, the left, right and distal edges show abrupt to semi-abrupt retouch. The removals are scaled and invasive. The ventral face is convex no obvious bulb of percussion. The poor quality flint is mid-grey in colour, with milky patches. The ventral face is convex with the remains of the bulb of percussion, though a portion of this is missing. The flint is poor quality and dark grey in colour, with a few milky brown patches. Small flint thumb nail scraper made from a secondary flake, probably dating from the Neolithic to early Bronze Age. The scraper has a small butt, with diffuse bulb and very discreet ripples, suggesting that a small, soft hammer was used. The ventral face is concave. The dorsal face has high-gloss, whitish pebble cortex remaining on the left-hand side. In the centre are two long, curved flaking scars. To the right of these is low angle, short, stepped retouch. Below the retouched edge, on the ventral face, a small notch has been removed. There is also a small amount of retouch in the ce…

Thumb nail scraper, made from a secondary flake, of probable Neolithic to Early Bronze Age date. The butt appears to have snapped off following deposition leaving a sharp break. However, very discreet ripples suggest that a soft hammer was probably used. The dorsal face has brown, matt, pebble cortex remaining on the right-hand side. In the centre and to the left of the dorsal face are two long, thin flaking scars. Above this, at the distal end, is semi-abrupt, long, scaled retouch. Knapped flint flake with extensive retouch, probably an incomplete thumb nail scraper. The tertiary flake has been struck off a platform with a prominent bulb on the ventral face. It has a prominent central aris on the dorsal face and damage at the proximal end. The right edge on the dorsal face is curved in with two large chips removed, one from each face. On the left edge a notch has been made just above the platform presumably to snap the thinner, retouched thumb nail scraper off the platform. Above the notch the side curves out and the back to the almost straight distal end. This …

A small flint implement, created on a secondary flake. Probably a scraper and notched-flake, but possibly an unusually shaped arrowhead. Sub-triangular in shape, the object does look rather like a crude or damaged Neolithic arrow-head. However, it is complete, apart from a missing tip to the distal end and would probably be too mishapen to function as an arrow head. Neither does it fit in well to the standard typology of arrowheads from this period. A small amount of cortex remains to the right of the distal end of the dorsal face. The dorsal surface has been abruptly retouched at the distal end and along one side. Dimensions: 39.5mm by 31.8mm by 11.2mm Weight: 18.2g

A broken flint scraper of probable Neolithic to early Bronze Age date. The scraper has been made from a tertiary flake, which may have been a natural flake as the proximal end has been broken off and there are no clear ripples on the ventral surface. The dorsal surface has been abruptly retouched around one edge. Dimensions: 43mm by 25.8mm by 9.6mm Weight: 12.1g

A flint end scraper of probable Neolithic to early Bronze Age date. The scraper has been made from a secondary flake and has small an area of cortex (c. 2%) on the dorsal surface. At the proximal end is the striking platform and below this on the ventral surface is the bulb of percussion and a large bulbar scar. Ripples radiate down the ventral surface. The dorsal surface has two main flaking scars and has been abruptly retouched at the distal end. Dimensions: 30.9mm by 23.8mm by 8.8mm Weight: 6.4g

A flint end scraper of probable Neolithic to early Bronze Age date. The scraper has been made from a secondary flake (with a small area of cortex remaining). At the proximal end is the striking platform and below this on the ventral surface is the bulb of percussion. Faint ripples radiate down the ventral surface. A probable crude flint end scraper of Neolithic to early Bronze Age date. The scraper has been made from a secondary flake (with a small area of cortex remaining). At the proximal end is the striking platform and below this on the ventral surface is the bulb of percussion. Faint ripples radiate down the ventral surface. On the dorsal surface there are a number of flaking scars. The distal end appears to have been crudely retouched, although some use of the natural cortex has also been made.
