A complete Neolithic flaked axe head, c.4000-2300 BC. This axehead is made from cream-coloured flint or chert with some iron staining. There are no patches of cortex remaining. The shape is asymmetrical, with one long edge slightly more bulbous than the other, which is straight. In profile, the axe is reasonably similar and balanced. It is very similar in shape to DOR-3F1ECB. The sides appear unfinished and have some post-depositional damage. It is possible that this axehead was to be ground and polished, as it is missing the finer flakes that refine these edges.

Incomplete Neolithic flint axe or adze, c.2800 - 2100 BC. This axehead has been knapped into a shape commonly used for polished axeheads - straight sided with a slightly flared cutting edge. The axe is sub-triangular in plan and ovate in section. All faces show signs of being polished, with low ridges and slightly visible flaking scars. The butt has broken off and been lost. The axe is made from a mid-grey flint with white patches; no outer cortex is left on this item.

An incomplete Neolithic polished flint axehead (c. 2700 BC-c. 2351 BC). This axehead is now sub-triangular in plan and is pointed oval in cross-section. Although the grinding has been sufficiently deep to remove the majority of the flaking scars, some do remain close to the butt on one face. A small area of battering at the butt end may indicate that the axehead had also been used as a hammer. There is also a small area of battering at the top of one of the flake scars close to the polished area. The axehead was probably polished overall as a flattened bevelled edge extends the ful…

An incomplete Neolithic flint axehead (4000 BC- 2351 BC). This axehead is slightly 'humped' on one face, flaked overall on both faces and is asymmetrical lenticular in cross-section. The butt is rounded and the lateral sides flare and then taper slightly inwards to a straight cutting edge. One face is light grey and mottled pale orange with small areas of cortex at the butt end and centre. The other face is light buff/orange with iron staining. The cutting edge appears to have been broken and then re-sharpened on the face with the cortex. The removals on this cutting edge are short…

An incomplete Neolithic polished flint axehead (c. 4000 BC-c. 2351 BC). The butt end is missing due to an oblique break. This axehead is sub-rectangular in plan, roughly 'V'-shaped in side view and pointed oval in cross-section. Towards the truncated oblique butt end it becomes more rounded in cross-section. It has been bi-facially flaked all over and then partially ground and polished. It is possible that the cutting edge broke and was then re-worked and modified for a specific function.
