A probable Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age bifacial knapped flint blade made of opaque mottled dark grey flint (possibly Woldstone) with some cortex remaining on the distal tip.The cortex is visible on the dorsal and ventral face. The tranverse section is trapezoidal. Both faces have been knapped to form an acute angle at one lateral side and an obtuse angle at the other lateral side. Both the dorsal and ventral face have vertical knap lines with pronounced signs of ridging, which would suggest the use of a hard hammer in its construction. There seems little sign…

A Late Mesolithic to Neolithic retouched flint blade, dating to 6000-2500 BC. It is a tertiary blade, which has been manufactured from a light grey flint core. It is sub-rectangular in plan and roughly trapezoidal in cross-section. It has been manufactured from a grey flint core by striking long flakes. The dorsal face is faceted, having a central longitudinal scar flanked by two parallel scars. The ventral face is flat except for a bulb of percussion at proximal end. The surfaces are covered by a blueish white patina with small light brown mottled patches. There is evidence of retouch…

A complete knapped lithic tool of Neolithic date, circa 3500 - 2100 BC. The implement is a blade formed from a tertiary flake with the bulb of percussion and ripples remaining on the ventral surface. Four distinct flakes have been removed from the dorsal surface leaving a distinct central ridge. There are a number of retouch marks which join each other along one edge of the dorsal side. The flint is pale grey with mottling of white and darker grey. The implement is 62.03mm long, 20.11mm wide, 5.78mm thick and weighs 5.9g.

The hard hammer tertiary flake is of dark grey flint, roughly triangular in shape, and is shallowly triangular in end-on cross-section. There is a notch at one side which is possibly where it has been reshaped and used as a scraper. It has two facets on the dorsal face, with bifacial low angle retouch which is stepped along the un-notched side, and there is a pronounced bulb of percussion with ripple marks on the ventral face.

The blade tapers from its thin proximal end to become considerably thicker and semi-circular in section at its distal end where it has been broken, with possibly as much of half of the original flake now missing. The dorsal face bears the scars of the removal of several earlier longitudinal flakes. The larger blade is pale grey and shows both primary and secondary retouching and may have been longer as there is a break width ways across the wider end.
A Neolithic date 2900 - 1800 BC may be suggested as similar dated debitage and tools have been found in the immidiate vicinity.
The small blade measures 12 x 9.76 x 1.75mm and weighs 0.22 gm.

The ventral face shows signs of minor retouching on both the longer sides, the dorsal face has 1 central ridge and shallow angled sides with cortex remaining with retouching on the same faces as the ventral side plus tertiary retouching to the tip. This suggests it may be a combination blade / boring tool. The blade has reached the base of the core and so the distal end and most of the right margin carries cortex. The left margin truncates a large transverse flake scar so the blade came from a 2 platform core with platforms at right angles to each other.
