Object type: SCRAPER (TOOL)
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Nottinghamshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A Neolithic or Bronze Age flint scraper or knife made on a secondary flake that contains a small patch of cortex on the dorsal surface. The item is roughly triangular in plan, having slightly concave sides. A bulb of percussion is visible on the ventral surface, but the striking platform is no longer visible, having been worked with short, abrupt, sub-parallel retouch in order to blunt the edge. The edge that runs parallel to the bulb of percussion (at the distal end) contains low angled, long, scaled retouch, taken from both sides.

Object type: RETOUCHED FLAKE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Nottinghamshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A possible Neolithic flint retouched flake. The item is made from a tertiary flake, and has some evidence for retouch. The flake is thin, tapering from 4mm at the striking platform to just under 1mm at the distal end. The dorsal surface has one large flake scar running down the centre, with a narrow flake scar to either side. A small, concave, area of possible retouch is visible at the distal end, as is a small area on the left side of the flake. The retouch appears to be low angle, short, and parallel. The flint is light brown in colour.

Object type: DEBITAGE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Nottinghamshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A piece of debitage, flint flake of Neolithic or Bronze Age date. The flake is sub-rectangular in plan and appears to be snapped at the proximal end. The distal end contains a large patch of cortex. There are three main flake scars on the dorsal surface, and one one side there is a small patch of what is possibly retouch, though this is tentative. The flake plunges on the ventral surface to the end with the cortex. The flint is mottled brown.

Object type: SCRAPER (TOOL)
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Nottinghamshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
An incomplete end scraper of Neolithic or Bronze Age date. The scraper is on a thick flake that has a concave ventral surface. No striking platform is visible, nor are any ripple marks. This suggests that the scraper is made from a natural piece, or perhaps on the end of a larger, now incomplete, plunging flake. Short, abrupt scaled retouch is noted along the sides and the distal end. The flit is dark brown/black.

Workflow stage: Published
A complete Late Neolithic flint oblique arrowhead manufactured on a tertiary flake (2500 BC-2100 BC).
This arrowhead is sub-triangular in plan. The edges of the two shorter sides have both been worked on both sides. The edge of the long side is worked on one side only. The arrowhead is thickest at the angle where the two shorter sides meet; it then thins to the long side. The arrowhead is mid-brown in colour.

A flint knife or end scraper made from brown coloured flint. The flake is roughly trapezoid in plan and is a plunging flake; the distal end of the ventral surface points inwards and has a smooth, rolled feel to it. The striking platform is no longer present, and instead has been worked into a concave, crescent shaped notch. This contains fine retouch. The dorsal surface is worked with long flake scars. Fine retouch is seen along one side.

A flint knife or end scraper made from light brown coloured flint. The ventral surface is smooth and convex, showing no ripples or bulb or percussion, suggesting that it is a 'potlid' flake. The dorsal surface is worked all over, with crude retouch along the distal end. Possibly early Bronze Age.

A possible flint knife of Neolithic or Bronze Age date. The flint is roughly oval and has a flat striking platform with a bulb of percussion extending from it on the ventral surface. The dorsal surface has three long flake scars but approximately 50% of the surface is covered with cortex. There appears to be no retouch on the edge. It is unclear whether this flint is a waste flake or is a natural piece with features similar to human-struck pieces.
