Record ID: NMS-F8355C
Object type: LITHIC IMPLEMENT
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Tertiary, hard hammer struck flake, of mostly unpatinated semi-translucent brown flint, with slight, patchy pale discolourations to both faces, with two steeply retouched notches to each lateral edge (four in total) of differing diameters and profiles, the broad distal end is semi-invasively retouched to the dorsal face to form a chisel-like end.

Record ID: NMS-285572
Object type: LITHIC IMPLEMENT
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Possible agricultural crude adze or hoe-like implement, of unpatinated mottled grey flint, made from a large hard hammer struck tertiary flake, with both sides steeply retouched on opposing faces by large removals to form a "waist", presumably for hafting. The proximal end is trimmed by abrupt angle retouch, removing the bulb and forming a "stop" at the back of the implement, another hint at hafting to a wooden handle. The distal end is irregularly shaped to form an asymmetrical semi-circular plan form, with the (slightly worn) cutting edge towards the ventral face when viewed from th…

Record ID: NMS-D47C2E
Object type: PLANO CONVEX KNIFE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Possible plano-convex or discoidal knife of unusual form, a secondary, hard hammer struck flake with previous centripetal flake removals to the dorsal face. Of dark brown patinated flint, bulb removed by semi-invasive direct percussion struck from the dorsal face. One lateral edge is invasively retouched only on the dorsal face with seven flake scars (by pressure-flaking?), this is restricted to a natural projection of the "blank" flake.

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Tertiary, semi-hard hammer struck, and rather thin flake, of largely unpatinated pale grey flint with white, mottled inclusions and faint, small iron oxide staining to parts of both faces. The bulb of percussion is partially removed by a flake removal on the ventral face, struck from the side of the platform. The distal end is steeply retouched to form the scraping edge, and both lateral edges are irregularly retouched. Flake scars to the dorsal face all run the same way as the flake itself, indicating that this piece was struck from a single platform core. Neolithic, possibly early.
