Prehistoric flint flake, probably of Neolithic date, c. 4000 - 2000 BC The flint flake is a comparatively large example (at a length of 95.8mm, a width of 76.4mm, a thickness of 25.8mm and a weight of 142.8g). The flake is has a large patch of cortex surviving on its dorsal surface with a linear flaw through the surface, which is not evident on the ventral face. The striking platform shows evidence of core preparation, prior to striking and suggests a hard-hammer technology.
