Object type: LITHIC IMPLEMENT
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Greater London Authority
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An oval secondary struck flake of banded dark grey flint. The flake is curved and the distal end tapers to broken tip; the proximal end is rounded with a small striking platform. The proximal half of the dorsal surface has extensive sub parallel removal scars, with hinge fracturing. There does not appear to be any retouch which suggests that this is a waste flake, perhaps a thinning flake from Neolithic axehead production.

Broad period: MESOLITHIC
County: Greater London Authority
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A small flint core tool of Mesolithic date, oval in shape, 87.9mm in length and struck from a banded orange-brown flint. The distal end has been worked into a rounded cutting edge, possibly with a larger tranchet removal which has been obscured by subsequent removals, perhaps for sharpening. The tool is poorly finished, with a large oblique facet on the butt end and a concave area of damage on the rear end of the dorsal surface. The ventral surface is flat and unworked.

Dark grey flint with cortex spot, scraper. A small thick chunk with a bulbar ventral surface which has acquired a dense white patina from exposure to a calcareous environment. Odd patches of the same film appear elsewhere on the dorsal side. The larger one is cylindrical, except two of the faces are unworked. It has an oval striking platform producing bladelets and small flakes. It is 26mm long, 27.1mm wide and 16.9mm thick. 16.2g. The smaller chunk is probably a core and is lightly worked and irregular, with multiple striking platforms. The product is small flakes and blades and there is some platform preperation. It is 26.5mm long…

A flint flake, probably a burin, of probable Mesolithic date, 10000 BC - 4000 BC. It is formed on a secondary flake of opaque light grey flint with cortex surviving on the left edge of the distal end. There is a burin spall removal from the distal end along the ventral face at the right hand side. This, and additional flaking on the distal end, create a chisel like point at the distal end which could be used for cutting grooves. It is 29mm long, 20.3mm wide and 9.5…
