Pale grey flint possible debitage. A thin flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and a bulb at the narrow end of its ventral side. A dense creamy patina then developed over struck surfaces, suggesting a period of exposure to a calcareous environment. A sub-rhomboid chunk with an undulating ventral surface from which at least one and probably several large flakes have been struck, and with invasive angled scalar retouch across a limited central part of its dorsal surface. Flint blade, as kindly identified by the finder. Thin sub-rectangular flake with broad and narrow parallel flakes struck from its dorsal side and with a flat slightly rippled ventral surface. The shorter of the opposed long edges may bear fine serrations, though these are more readily felt than observed. A dense white patina overall suggests the object has endured a long period of exposure to a calcareous environment. Pale grey flint with cortex pebble possible plough pebble. One half or more of a water-rounded flint cobble with a single flat face which is rounded at its edges, smoothed, and bears unidirectional scoring. The finder kindly suggests a role as a sharpener. Dr Kevin Leahy regards these objects as plough pebbles, which would be mounted on the leading edge of the wooden mould board to reduce its erosion during use, the markings on the protruding ‘working’ face of the pebble arising from long use until its displacement. The heavy plough was an introduction of later Iron Age to …

Black flint with cortex, debitage. A small rounded flake with broad parallel flakes struck from its dorsal side and with a concave ventral surface from which two broad flakes were struck, though at right angles to that working described above. A dense white patina of up to 1mm thickness has subsequently accumulated over all struck surfaces, suggesting a long period of exposure to a calcareous environment. The underlying tint of the flint is revealed by a recent chip. Suggested date: Early Neolithic, 4000-3500 BC Length: 29.9mm, Width: 27.1mm, Thickness: 8.6mm, Weight: 7.60gms
