Record ID: NLM-480D96
Object type: CORE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Mottled grey and brown flint core. A small chunk which bears multiple scars from multangular hard hammer working. There is more than one episode represented, as one struck facet had accumulated a light patina before it was partially removed by later working. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC Height: 24mm, Width: 27.8mm, Thickness: 19.4mm, Weight: 13.26gms

Record ID: NLM-47EFC0
Object type: DEBITAGE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Grey flint debitage. Two small chunks and a flake fragment with broad flakes struck from their dorsal surfaces and with a bulb and concave ventral surface [the largest, length 35mm], a markedly concave ventral surface [the intermediate, length 25mm] and a flat ventral surface [the smallest, length 16.4mm]. The smallest flake also bears invasive angled scalar retouch and might be a fragment lost from a larger blade. The lack of patina might suggest these objects to have been immediately incorporated into a sealed context. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC. Combined Weight: 9.29gms

Pale grey-buff opaque flint debitage. Two thin narrow flakes [of length 44mm and 28mm] with long narrow parallel flakes struck from their dorsal sides, and with flat [the smaller] or twisted concave [the larger] ventral surfaces. Suggested date: Late Mesolithic, 7000-4000 BC Combined Weight: 4.20gms

Record ID: NLM-47B6F8
Object type: BACKED BLADE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Pale brown  semi-translucent flint, possibly collected from the East Coast, possible backed blade. A small thin flake with a single long flake trimmed from its dorsal side and a slightly concave ventral surface which is faintly rippled; bulb lost to a recent chip. A re-formed possibly marine-derived cortex has been retained along one long side. A single thin spall from thew opposite long edge appears to have created a sharp if ephemeral cutting edge. Probably made for a single task as there is scant evidence of use wear. Suggested date: Early Neolithic, 4000-3500 BC Length: 27.8m…

Object type: CORE
Broad period: MESOLITHIC
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Grey flint with cortex, core fragment. Probably part of a pyramidal core, with narrow parallel flakes removed by unidirectional working from a flat platform; one or two sides appear to have parted from the object during this activity. The penultimate episode seems to have been the removal of another thin narrow flake from the left [as illustrated] side of the striking platform. The lack of subsequent patination might suggest this object to have then been incorporated into a sealed deposit. Suggested date: possibly Late Mesolithic, 7000-4000 BC. Height: 27.3mm, Width: 16.8mm, Thickness…

Object type: BORER
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Pale grey flint possible borer. A thin flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and a faintly rippled ventral surface. . The retouch, probably angled scalar an, may have defined a small protruding point. A dense creamy patina may suggest a subsequent period of exposure to a calcareous environment. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC Length: 23.9mm, Width: 28.2mm, Thickness: 5.4mm, Weight: 3.56gms

Object type: SCRAPER (TOOL)
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Pale blue-grey flint with cortex, scraper. A small thick chunk with a slightly concave ventral surface, probably broken in antiquity removing the striking platform, and with cortex removed from the opposite curving edge by short abrupt scalar retouch executed from the dorsal aspect. Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2350-1600 Length: 18.5mm, Width: 19.3mm, Thickness: 8.5mm, Weight: 3.78gms

Object type: CORE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Pale grey flint with cortex, core. A thick flake with broad flakes removed three quarters of the way around, with some but not all removals working from a broad flat oval striking platform. Rust spotting may arise from incorporation into gravels. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC Height: 14.8mm, Width: 35.2mm, Thickness: 26mm, Weight: 15.11gms

Pale grey flint scraper. A small thumbnail scraper with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and with a concave ventral surface. Short abrupt retouch executed from the dorsal aspect follows the curving edge opposite a flat butt, perhaps where the flake broke in antiquity. A dense creamy patina suggests a subsequent period of exposure to a calcareous environment. Flint debitage fragments. Five thin narrow flakes [lengths 33.4mm to 24mm], all with long narrow parallel flakes removed from their dorsal sides and with flat ventral surfaces, though bulbs are mostly lost to chips at the ends. The thick creamy patina may arise from exposure to a calcareous environment . Suggested date: Late Mesolithic, 7000-4000 BC Combined Weight: 6.93gms
