Copper alloy finger ring. Cast penannular band, tapering to opposed points opposite the bezel, which comprises a moulded bar with five small pits for inset glass stones [lost]. A moulded V appears at each shoulder. Probably a ‘fairing’ or item of trinket jewellery. Lead possible shot. A cast object comprising a strip or sprue of width 5mm with a series of seven peloidal balls, each of diameter 4mm and each at the end of a conical ingate. The strip is broken at one end and melted at the other. Patinated. This might be an expedient to cast birdshot or a blunderbuss or shotgun charge of pellets; a mechanical function seems unlikely given the soft nature of the material. A central motif depicts the upper half of a facing figure with wild hair and a short-sleeved garment with its right arm raised, indeterminate objects lie to lower left. An inner circle separates the motif from a three-word circumferential legend: COUNTY FIRE OFFICE – the central word is less clear than the others. A drawn wire loop is brazed to the plain back. Lead alloy toy tankard. Cast cylindrical model of a tankard, hollow, with an integrally cast moulded handle projecting from the mould line along one side. It is possible that other features were set opposite, where two surface irregularities may be either stubs from another handle or casting flaws. At least four rows of tiny moulded dots ascend the vessel wall, and it has a slightly expanded foot ring. This interpretation is suggested by the form, and by four drilled holes of diameter 2.5mm equidistantly distributed along the flange, which would have enabled the object to be incorporated into the layers of a stitched sole. Two iron blades and possibly another implement for a folding knife, retained between fragmentary flat plain copper alloy side plates of thickness 0.7mm by long rivets – whether one or two is now uncertain. A flat oval plate with faint traces of cross-hatching marks the end of the knife handle. Side plates of bone or ivory would have been secured outside the copper plates which remain and would have butted up to the end plate.
