Copper-alloy sword-belt fitting consisting of a shield-shaped plate with a suspension hook below. The plate is elaborately shaped with a top edge cut into a double incurve. The sides are also incurved and the bottom corners are rounded. The plate has a narrow reserved undecorated border around a shallow sunken centre; this centre has foliage decoration in counter-relief. A fragment of a late Bronze Age socketed axehead dated from 1000-800 BC. The lower portion of the axe shows signs of been re-sharpened on one edge, and re-used in antiquity. This may of given rise to the inbalance and curved nature of the cutting edge. Cutting edge very fine and sharp. Width across cutting edge: 47.38 mm. Length from broken edge to cutting edge: 33.72. Thickness across broken edges 13.33 mm, 10.87 mm. Width across fractured edge: 30.73.

Circular copper-alloy brooch, 24 mm in diameter, with a raised border decorated with closely spaced transverse nicks. Neatly filling most of the sunken centre is a backward-looking animal in counter-relief, with four legs, a long neck and a large tail curled over the back. No details appear to have been added to the animal - there is no eye or mane - but the brooch is quite worn, and so these may have once been present. A late Iron Age to Roman miniature terret ring. The undecorated ring is not circular and has an outer diameter of 16.58 mm and an internal diameter of 8.33 mm. It shows some slight signs of wear around the inside edge. Terret rings such as this are possibly associated with horse harness, sword belts, belts or they may have some other utilitarian use.

A fragment of a cast copper alloy sceptre or staff handle dating to the Roman period. The fragment comprises a circular section hollow tube, encircled at the mid point by a prominent lentoidal rib. The handle has a present length of 54mm. At the mid point the diameter is 26mm. Elsewhere it measures 14mm. It is similar to an example identified as a Roman sceptre from Wanborough, Surrey (Surrey report. SyAC82. Sceptre handle no28).

A small assemblage of medieval and post medieval pottery comprising: a) 3 rims of a shell tempered ware, probably dating to the eleventh or twelfth centuries AD. The fabric is grey to orange in colour with numerous shell inclusions. b)5 rims (one with combed decoration), 28 bodies and 4 bases of a coarse grey ware probably dating to the medieval period. A fragment of a copper alloy brooch, either a small-long or a cruciform, dating to the sixth century AD. The fragment comprises the head plate and a very small portion of the bow. The head plate is rectangular in shape and divided into three panels by two bold grooves running upwards from the edges of the bow to the top of the headplate.
