A fragment of a copper-alloy small-long brooch dating to the fifth or sixth century AD. The fragment comprises the trefoil headplate, which has a rectangular central panel with three very damaged flat knobs, one to the top and one to either side. The U-shaped cut-outs at the base of the knobs survive. The headplate has a marginal row of crescent-shaped stamps which are hard to see on the image, There is a small stub of bow extending fro the lower edge of the headplate. A copper alloy object, probably dating to the medieval period. The object comprises a rectangular strip which has been bent into a flattened circle. One edge possesses three sub-oval lugs (one is missing) decorated with incised grooves. The outer surface of the ferrule is also decorated with a central row of ring and dot, flanked by a row of vertical incised grooves. It is 12mm in length and 27mm in width.

A copper alloy zoomorphic brooch dating to the second century AD. The brooch is in the form of a duck. The body is sub-oval in shape and has been divided into two sub-triangular cells representing wings. Each cell is filled with degraded red enamel. A rib runs centrally the length of the body and extends to the neck, head and beak of the bird. Remnants of knurled tinning/silvering are visible adhering to this rib. A complete pair of copper alloy tweezers, probably dating to the Roman period. The tweezers are formed from a single strip of metal bent into a semi-circular loop at the mid point. The arms are rectangular in plan and section and do not taper. They are decorated with two marginal grooves. The end of each arm is bent in at an angle of approximately 40 degrees. The tweezers measure 31mm in length and 4mm in width. There is a similar example (No. 1879) illustrated in Crummy (1983) 'The Roman small finds from excavations in Colchester 1971-9'.

Complete small-long brooch in excellent condition. Made from copper alloy with no obvious trace of a surface coating, it has a rectangular headplate which is undecorated except for a small V-shaped bevelled nick in the centre of the top edge. One corner of the headplate is slightly bent. On the reverse of the headplate is a single pin bar lug with remains of the iron pin bar. A cast copper alloy Roman nail cleaner of Baldock Type of Eckardt and Crummy, 2008, 119-120, fig. 58. The object has a leaf-shaped shaft, 8.5mm wide and 1.5mm thick, with two points at one end and a suspension loop at the other end. The loop is at right angles to the plane of the shaft. This is a plain nail cleaner with no decoration. The total length of the object is 46mm and the weight is 1.67g. The colour is dark brown. This is a Crummy Type 2a which dates from the mid to late 1st century to the 2nd century (Crummy, N 1983, page 58n, o. 1874).

A copper-alloy finger ring of Henig type II dating 1st-3rd century A.D. It has an oval recess 14.60mm x 11.74mm and c.2.98mm deep that would have held an intaglio, which is now missing. It is difficult to determine whether the ring was originally a continuous band of metal or whether it was designed to terminate in rounded off ends that met at the centre of the back (underneath of the finger) almost but not quite touching, or rounded off ends that over-lapped each other one above the other. A lead steelyard weight dating to the Roman period. The weight is primarily bi-conical in shape with the remains of an iron suspension loop extending from both ends. However the weight is significantly misshapen on one side, giving the appearance best described as ‘something having exploded outwards from within the weight, resulting in the lead having parted (mostly on one of the two cones, i.e. the upper cone being more effected than the lower) and pushed outwards. A copper-alloy Colchester-derivative dolphin brooch dating to 43-60AD. The wings are undecorated although they are worn and corroded with the tips missing. The semi-circular curved wings are 15.67mm long and 5.10mm wide with a thickness of 1.46mm and curve to a height of 2.95mm. The sprung pin is missing. A copper-alloy Colchester one-piece brooch of 1st century (25-60)AD date. The bow is flat with a rectangular cross-section and convex sides. It has a sharp change in angle as it approaches the head, and tapers slightly away from the head ending with a rounded tail or foot. A fragment of an Anglo-Saxon copper-alloy great square-headed brooch. The metal has a light green patina. The brooch is so fragmentary it has not been possible to assign it to one of Hines's groups (Hines, J. 1997). The zones used here to describe the various parts of the brooch relate to the zones described by Hines (Hines, J. 1997, p.5, fig.1). The only parts of the brooch to survive are the top part of the bow (zone h) and the central part of the headplate (zones b & e) the headplate second panel and headplate inner panel.
