A copper alloy mount possibly from a shield, casket or scabbard dating to the Middle or Late Iron Age. The stud is circular in shape and hemispherical in section. The upper surface of the stud possesses a central circular depression. The depression is decorated with a knurled ring of a white substance, which has tentatively been identified as coral. Fragment of a flat silver mount with relief diamond and dot decoration. Both long edges are parallel and curved, with a circular attachment hole at the complete end. Undecorated reverse. Reported as potential treasure but believed to be less than 300 years old by Ms Judy Rudoe of the British Museum and therefore falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.

From the photograph of the reverse, this appears to be an early post-medieval hooked mount with a 'shield-shaped' plate and sturdy blunt hook. The plate has curved lower corners and is then waisted before flaring out again to a shaped top; the hook has outcurved edges at the top and parallel edges lower down, and has a straight cut-across end; it bends towards the reverse of the plate. A copper alloy book or box mount dating to the medieval period. It s rectangular with a small circular perforation punched through each corner. At one end the plate is bent widthwise. On the upper surface of plate is an incised rectangular panel containing the letters IHS defined by rows of rocked tracer incisions. Traces of a white metal coating survive on the upper surface of the plate. The back of the plate is plain. Description: Double-sided mount made from two similar thick niello-inlaid rectangular silver plates. The short edges are shaped, each around two rivets with a point between the two; all four separate silver rivets survive, three with circular heads at one end of 3mm diameter. A cast gilded silver terminal in the shape of an animal's head. Extensive gilding survives across much of the surface. The beast's head is elongated and its snout curves downwards and back upwards underneath. Subtle moulding represents the end of the upper and lower jaws, from which protrudes a long tongue.
