A Medieval finger-ring, complete but distorted. The cusped setting holds a blue stone, probably a sapphire. The hoop is decorated along its two sides with a series of quatrefoils. The back of the hoop is left plain. Inside the hoop is an inscription, which reads: en bon foey The last word is likely to be a version of "foi", which would give the meaning "in good faith". A more substantial gold ring with a turquoise held in a similar setting was found among the jewels deposited with the Fishpool Hoard (BM MME 1967, 12-8, 2). The ring is gold, and dates from the fifteenth century…

Description: A broken and incomplete silver medieval finger ring. The inside of the hoop is flat and undecorated. The outside of the hoop is bevelled to give a triangular cross-section, with two facets, each carrying a poorly engraved inscription. The lower half reads, in black-letter script: * ihesus nazaren... with a quatrefoil within a lozenge between the words. This is clearly the start of the inscription Ihesus Nazarenus or Jesus of Nazareth, with a small part of the ring missing. This half of the inscription is based on the outside of the ring, so it occupies the lower half. …

A gold stirrup shaped finger-ring of Medieval date. The slender 'D' shaped hoop, flat on the inner surface, is 2.13mm wide and 0.57mm thick at the base of the hoop (opposite the bezel). The hoop is 2.62mm wide and 3.78mm thick at the bezel, thickness not including the setting which increases the thickness at the bezel to 4.51mm. The blue setting is perhaps most likely to be a sapphire and has a slightly convex shaped upper surface and is still securely fitted within the bezel. It is not possible to determine…
