A long cross penny of Edward II c. 1312- 1314 AD, Class 11b3 [Ed.11b] Most of the pennies of Edward 11, are very similar to Edward 1st. stylelistically the two reignes are also similar, with virtually identical reverses and minor differences on the obverse. The obverse legend reads EDWAR(R) ANGL DNS HYB, which is different from most of Edward 1’s pennies except for some of the later classes. Obverse shows diademed and robed bust of fine style, right, Athenian eye gazing heavenward, small mouth, hand cupping cross pommee before, knotted wreath ties behind.
