Small heart-shaped brooch, set with marcasite, which is polished metal cut in a matter so as to resemble a gem. Where the clasp of the brooch touches the outer face, a piece of marcasite is now missing. The use of marcasite in jewellery, as a replacement for diamonds, becomes practised in the late 18th century. The object falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act.

A fragment from a Medieval brooch, which was originally circular in form and now consists of a flattened band twisted towards one end. It is engraved with the letters ...SVS:NAZA... to signify IESVS NAZARENVS (Jesus of Nazareth) The inscription would have continued with the words REX IUDEORUM (King of the Jews) This may have been abbreviated to fit the space provided by the brooch frame. A plain silver annular brooch of thirteenth to fourteenth century date weighing 1.96g. The once circular frame has a transverse break just to the side of where the pin rests against the frame. The two ends now overlap each other by 2.82mm which results in the frame now being oval in shape with the outer diameter measurements of 24.00mm x 20.96mm. A Medieval silver twisted-wire annular brooch, consisting of a twisted rope work design comprising four raised strands and four smaller incised strands. The pattern terminates at a plain section of hoop for the attachment of a pin, now missing. Although decorated with raised beading in addition to a twisted design, see Egan and Pritchard 1991, Nos. 1325 and 1334 for comparables. Also, G.Bailey, Buttons and Fasteners 500 BC- AD 1840,(2004), p.105, fig. 13.16 and p. 110, fig. 3.53. The brooch dates from the 13th century. Dimensions: diameter 18.3 mm, depth 1.1 mm.

A Medieval silver gilt brooch. The brooch is missing its pin and has one fragment detached. The brooch is roughly oval in shape and tapers slightly to a point where two hands protrude from the brooch frame. The frame itself has a flat reverse and bevelled upper surface, giving an angled 'D' ('>') shaped section, with a collarred pin recess, measuring c.2.37mm in width. A brooch which has been been constructed using a Medieval Silver hammered coin; a "canopy" type penny of William I dating to 1070-2. North 843. The coin has been gilded on the reverse which has become the front of the brooch. The obverse of the coin which has been used as the back of the brooch shows a two column canopy covering a crowned and diademed bust facing with the face of the King and canopy still visible. A complete Medieval heart-shaped brooch. The frame of the brooch is cast into the shape of an asymmetric heart with a small protrusion at the point to the right.
