An iron padlock complete with shackle. In Geoff Egan's opinion it is most likely to be of relatively recent date, probably 18th century or early 19th century. The padlock is an irregular cylinder, being shorter on the outer edge and longer on the inner edge. The maximum length is 105.55mm, minimum length 83.57mm, diameter of case minimum 34.07mm, maximum 40.03mm. The arm or shackle pivots from a sub-oval plate which has a thickness of 5.12mm, is 55.17mm long and 32.65mm wide. It has a 'C' shaped cross-section and a curved length of 226.0mm. A corroded iron barb-spring (or barrel) padlock fragment comprising a flat disc with two sub-rectangular bumps visible on one surface. These are the ends of the spines (which support the springs), fixed through the end-plate of the bolt. The fragment measures 37mm in diameter and 5mm in thickness. Similar examples at Winchester come from contexts of the late 10th to 16th centuries.

An incomplete iron barb-spring (or barrel) padlock. The fragment comprises the flat, circular end plate. A flat, round-ended plate extends at right angles from the end plate; this is the spine of one of the springs. A rectangular-section scar is also visible, probably where another spine has broken away. The fragment has a diameter of 34mm and a maximum thickness of 30mm. Similar examples at Winchester come from contexts of the late 10th to 16th centuries.

An iron axehead of Early-Medieval date. These early Anglo-Saxon 'Francisca', Frankish throwing axes date from the 5th to the 8th century AD. The example recorded in this PAS record is a type from early in the chronology of Francisca. The remains of this socketed tool-head weigh c.0.6kg (600.00g). It has a length of c.146.0mm, maximum width of c.37.0mm and maximum height of c.85.0mm.
