An incomplete gold dog brooch of uncertain date, possibly early Post-Medieval. This three dimensional brooch seems to have been hollow or at least the body was hollow. The dog is positioned left with the head turned forwards. One ear is missing however the ear nearest the tail survives in good condition. All four legs are missing and there is a break across the chest area that is now filled with mud. The curled tail survives. The nose, mouth and eyes are very detailed and the dog wears a loose fitting collar that swivels around it's neck. On the reverse a hinged pin, now bent, and cat…

A gold annular brooch of Medieval date. The brooch weighs 2.36g and has an external diameter of 20.0mm and internal diameter of 14.4mm. The frame of the brooch has a 'D' shaped cross-section with convexly curved upper surface and flat reverse. The band of the frame has a width of 2.8mm and thickness of 1.1mm. The band constricts for a length of 2.1mm so that the pin can attach to the frame. The width and cross-section of the pin constriction is uncertain as it is hidden from view by the pin. The upper surface of the brooch is decorated with incised or punch stamped grooved lin…

A Medieval gold annular brooch weighing 1.34g. The brooch frame has a triangular cross-section with a flat undecorated reverse surface. The frame has an external diameter of 16.5mm and the internal diameter of the loop is 11.9mm. The frame has a thickness of 0.9mm. 1.6mm of the frame's circumference contracts to form a pin constriction. This constriction reduces the width of the frame, at this place, to c.0.9mm. To either side of the constriction there is what appears to be a raised, slightly shaped, collar c.0.9mm wide. Directly opposite the pin constriction the frame has a four-…
