Neolithic flint axehead, measuring 148.5mm in length, 48.5mm in max. width and 29.5mm thick. The axehead has been knapped into a long and tapering shape. One terminal is slightly pointed, while the other is rounded. The knapping scars are multi-directional, but mostly extend downwards and outwards from the centre, forming a high central ridge on one face, while the other is slightly flatter. The edges of the axe have some areas of retouch, and some evidence of damage. The light grey flint is heavily patinated with iron staining.

A Palaeolithic flint handaxe. The axe is 122mm long and 90mm wide. Its thickness is 28mm and its weight is ?g. It is ovate or cordate in shape, with bifacial working. The dorsal surface retains some cortex. Part of the ventral surface at the proximal end has broken off. All edges apart from the proximal? end have been retouched to form cutting edges. The orange/brown patination suggests deposition within river terrace gravels. This is Lower or Middle Palaeolithic(Achuelian) and probably dates to between 360,000 to 180,000 BC.

A Neolithic polished flint axehead with retouch and post-depositional damage. The axehead has a pointed oval to almost lozenge shaped cross section. A lot of the polished surface has been removed by retouch and small amounts of damage. The polished surface survives predominantly along the centre of both sides which then extends, flaring into a fan shape, to cover all of the blade end. A retouched tertiary gun flint dating from the 17th century AD through to the present. This piece of flint has a sub-rectangular shape and sub-trapezoidal cross-section. The largest surface, or back of the flint, has a slight concave curve This gun flint was it was found within a few miles of a known Napolionic prisoner of war camp dating from AD 1797. A single piece of secondary flint debitage of unknown date, probably late Neolithic to Bronze Age. A striking platform and point of percussion are visibly present on this flake. Flaked flint axehead, bifacially worked to produce an asymmetric sub-lozenge shaped cross-section. Significant amounts of recortication has occurred on this secondary peiece of flint, cortex remaining over the majority of the butt end. The presence of one small cavity is visible on the surface. This oval cavity measures 3.2mm x 2.4mm. Some battering on edges and on cutting edge. While this object could be a 'preform' which was intended to be polished the less perscriptive term 'Flaked Axe' is prefered. Probably Neolithic. The retouch is short, scaled and abrupt. A fragment of fossil or shell impression is present on one side of this object. Weight is 10.43g, length is 44.3mm, width is 34.0mm and thickness is 10.3mm. A primary flint, very late and very crudely made, scraper. A large inclusion occupies approximately half of the inner surface of the flint, which seems to have two hinge fractures along two edges. The most obvious of these has an abrupt near vertical angle although this may account for later damage. The other possible hinge fracture, if it is such, is much more subtle running along the edge of the flint. A pointed Lower Palaeolithic Acheulian flint handaxe which is patinated white and bifacially worked. Part of the butt has broken off and since patinated. There is also a small portion that has broken off more recently at the edge, near the point, which reveals light grey flint. The sides taper gradually to a point which has survived well.
