A copper alloy clothes fastener, dating to the early Post-Medieval period. The fastener comprises an elongated flat semi-circular plate with a perforated lug at the apex and two further for perforated lugs on each side. At the base is a rectangular attachment loop. The upper surface of the plate is tinned and decorated with marginal rows of circular stamps and two rows of larger stamped circles flanking two longitudinal grooves. A copper alloy zoomorphic strap end dating to the ninth century AD of Thomas Class A. The strap end comprises a flat plate, the upper surface of which is decorated with a series of incised triangles filled with niello. At the attachment end the plate splits in two to accommodate the strap; there are two rivet holes with iron rivets in situ. The terminal is zoomorphic with eyes and ears rendered as cast decoration. The strap end measures 40mm in length and 7mm in width. At the attachment end it has a thickness of 5mm.
