Description and dimensions: Fragment of a silver siliqua of Jovian, reverse Vota in wreath, heavily clipped so that mintmark and further details are illegible, minted AD 363-4. Weight 0.54g. Heavily clipped with some wear. Discussion and date: Two previous coins from this hoard, recorded at NMS-61F8C7 (2012T402) were minted slightly later but are equally heavily clipped, a practice that seems to belong to the very last years of the 4th century and the early years of the 5th. Siliquae are rare as stray finds, and, since all are heavily clipped and patterns of wear are consist…

The coins are in poor condition, and quite accreted, so it's difficult to make out the surface details, but likely to be later Roman given their size. One appears to be perforated, so may have been reused. A dispersed hoard of 14 medieval silver coins dating between c.AD1299-1377, from the reigns of Edward I (AD1272-1307) and Edward III (AD1327-1377). Description: The coins were recovered over an area of approximately 900 square metres (30m x 30m), centred on the findspot, and from a depth of up to 15cm. It is likely that the hoard represents a lost purse dispersed in the topsoil by subsequent agricultural activity. In addition to the medieval coins, a single probable post medieval coin was also found. This coin is not likely to be part of the medieval coin hoard, but was rather a loca…

This later period is represented by 11 debased antoniniani dated AD 260-275 and AD 275-296. The earlier antoniniani comprise three official coins of the Gallic emperors Victorinus (SF …

I have examined two coins reported found Cuddesdon and Denton, Oxfordshire.  All are official medieval silver coins. All the coins are one denomination, being cut halfpennies, one of which was certainly minted under the reign of John (AD 1166-1216) while the other was minted under either John (AD 1166-1216) or Henry III (AD 1216-1272).  The coins could certainly have circulated together, in and around the 13th century. These coins were discovered in a small enough area to coins make it reasonable to suppose they were deposited together either as a small hoard or purse loss.…
