A cast copper-alloy chape dating to the post-medieval period. The object has been formed from a single sheet of copper alloy which has been folded into a ‘flattened conical’ shape tapering to one end. The join runs between both ends. The narrow terminal end is unclosed, slight horizontal indentations on the end suggest that it may have had a separate finial attached. Due to its size this chape probably once housed a dagger rather than a sword. The surface is dark greyish-green in colour. This chape dates to the post-medieval period between 1500-1700.
