Both the objects consist of base silver Roman coins fused together, possibly by the action of heat rather than corrosion, as they are bent and there appears to be little in the way of soil between the coins. They appear stable and an attempt to separate them is not considered desirable or likely to succeed. The smaller of the two lumps consists of three coins stuck together and slightly bent.
