A previous find of 16 Iron Age coins was made in June and July 2008 by the same finder in the same location (2008 T412). Like the previous 16 coins, this coin is also a 'Flat Linear I' potin. While the majority of Iron Age coins were produced by striking a gold, silver or bronze blank between a pair of dies, potins were instead cast in moulds and made from a lead/tin-rich bronze alloy. A hoard of fused silver coins, probably Medieval late 12th - 13th century. Curator's report: I have examined a fused group of coins reported found in Wandsworth, London. There are virtually no details that can be made out, but from the size of the coins and perhaps a couple of visible letters, it appears likely to me that they are late 12th or 13th century silver pennies, possibly of the Short Cross coinage (1180-1247). The hoard of late Roman coins comprises 19 gold (solidi) <CH 1> - <CH 19, 114 silver (siliquae) <CH 20> - <CH 133>, and 1 copper-alloy coin <CH 134>, making a total of 134 coins. A group of Late Bronze Age copper alloy ingots, containing one complete plano-convex or 'bun' shaped ingot, four fragments of plano-convex ingot and two fragments of probable ingot, rectangular in cross-section. All have surfaces pitted, rough and corroding.
