Post Medieval book clasp. Cast in copper alloy this book clasp is incomplete, with a break towards the hooked end. The clasp is rectangular in plan with an expanded attachment end. There are five circular perforations at the attachment end, arranged in two parallel rows, two rivet holes being closet to the end (one containing the remains of a rivet), with the remaining three approximately 5mm further along. Consists of two plates. The lower plate is rectangular with a single rivet at the 'clasp' end. Near the centre there is a hole from the decoration on the upper plate. The opposite edge of the lower plate has two rivet holes, one is incomplete. The edge is abraded. The upper plate has a protruding edge at one end which is curled at a right-angle. The opposite edge has a 'V' cut into it and the corners are flared sideways. Decoration on the upper plate is three circular openwork with a 'Y' incised between. In the centre is a circular openwork with three incised concentric rings.

Sub-rectangular shape. The long edges are slightly shaped with curves. One short end has a narrow central rectangular protrusion which is curled to form the clasp. At the opposite edge there are the remains of two iron rivets. There is stamped decoration on the upper face of pellets forming a series of lozenge shapes. The mount is bent slightly.
