An incomplete Medieval copper alloy buckle with plate, dating to c. AD 1250-1650. The inner edge of a cast single looped buckle frame with a narrowed and offset strap bar retained by a sub-triangular metal plate secured by folding around the strap bar. It has a slot at the centre where it folds over the strap bar, which would have once contained the missing pin. It has a green / brown coloured uneven surface patina. The iron spindle is retained and holds a triangular chape, 24.45mm in length with concave sides and complete with mushroom-headed stud and pointed pin, which is broken at its end-point. There is the remains of iron staining on the frame of the buckle, which has a dark brown patina. The chape has a mid-green patina.
