A cast copper alloy Roman Colchester Two-Piece brooch. The lower portion of the catchplate remains. The catchplate is decorated with openwork, which is incomplete. The curved edge of the catchplate is complete, and only a small portion of the bow remains. This tapers to a blunt point at the foot. The breaks on the catchplate and bow are not recent breaks. The surface of the brooch has a mottled dark brown/green coloured patina. The brooch measures 23mm long from the foot to the upper edge of the catchplate and 10.96mm wide. It weighs 2.7g. A cast copper alloy plate brooch in the form of an axe. The brooch is incomplete, with a large portion of the ‘axe handle’ missing. The break of the handle is possibly quite a recent break. The axe head component of the brooch is a sub asymmetrical trapezoid with a concave lower edge. The outer face of the axe is decorated with a crescentic shaped cell field with yellow enamel. A cast copper alloy Colchester Two-Piece brooch. The bow head and wings are incorporated together and in plan the bow head is a horizontal oval. On the reverse there is a rectangular shaped cell bordered on the sides by an integral perforated semi-circular lug which supports a copper alloy axis bar. Three knapped flint flakes. The flakes are trapezoidal and triangular in section. One flake has developed a white patina, the second has an opaque mottled dark grey colour and the third has an opaque red/brown colour. None have cortex remaining. Together they weigh 12.5g. The flakes are likely to be prehistoric dating to the Neolithic to Bronze Age periods (c. -3500 to c. -1500).

A probable knapped flint scraper, made from a mottled mid to dark grey coloured flint. The scraper is sub-oval in plan. The dorsal surface has large negative flake scars. There is re-touch around the lower curved edge. The ventral surface has a single negative flake scar, which is particular domed in profile. This surface has conchoidal rings, bulb of percussion and the striking platform which are positioned at the 3 o’clock position with the re-touch edge is along the base.
