A worn copper alloy sestertius dating from the reign of Maximinus Thrax AD 235-238 (Reece Period 11). PAX AVGVSTI reverse type, likely RIC vol. IVb no.81. See also Spink 8332, thus dating the coin further to AD 235-236.
Obverse description: Laureate bust facing right.
Obverse inscription: Illegible.
Reverse description: Pax standing left with branch and scepter. [S]-C across field.
Reverse inscription: PA[X] A[VGVSTI].
Diameter: 29.33mm. Thickness: 4.50mm. Die axis: 11.

An incomplete copper alloy sestertius of Maximinus I (AD 235-8), dating to AD 236-7 (Reece Period 11). [PAX] AVGVSTI reverse type depicting Pax standing left holding branch and transverse spear. Mint of Rome. RIC IV, pt 2, p. 146, no. 81; BMC VI, p. 235, nos. 148-152.The edge of the coin is slightly chipped, as is the reverse thus removing most of the legend.
Dimensions are as follows: 28.30mm in diameter, 3.88mm in thickness and 14.08g in weight.

Roman coin: prpbable sestertius of Maximus (AD 235-8), dating to AD 235-6 (Reece Period 11), PIETAS AVG S C, Priestly Implements. Mint of Rome. RIC IV, pt 2, p. p. 155, cf. no. 6; BMC VI, p. 232, cf. nos. 119-20. Although the coin is light at 14.3g, it has had circumferential loss. Furthermore, dupondii appear to be incredibly rare for Maximus - there are none in the BM collection.
