Fragment of a silver coin, cut to a lozenge shape and bent to an angle of 45 degrees. Not identifiable but some surviving marks appear to represent lettering of the style seen on Medieval coins. The fragment is worn and its edges rounded. Its funtion is unknown but it may have been part of the 'love token' phenomonon. Length 17.0mm Width 8.0mm, Thickness 0.3mm, Mass 0.29g.

Copper alloy Roman brooch of Polden Hill type, first century AD, bow decorated with four longitudinal ribs, each marked with finely incised, oblique lines.These are flanked by narrow webs which run down each side of the brooch. The underside of the wings on the brooch's head is hollow to accomodate the coiled spring, now missing. At each end of the wings is a circular plate with a central hole to accomodate the axial pin that secured the sping. Copper alloy Roman (c. 60-150) brooch of 'Trumpet' type represented only by the loop and rosette once fixed to the head of the brooch. This consists of a 14.0mm diameter, diamond sectioned ring the ends of which taper and pass through two holes in a rectangular plate on the underside of the rosette after which they are splayed out. The rosette is circular and contains a conical central boss surrounded by radiating petals. Length 21.7mm, Width 21.1mm, Height 9.1mm, Mass 3.10g.

Cast lead spindle whorl of possible Early Medieval (720-850) date. The whorl is plan-convex with a slighly concave underside. Through it is a 7.0 x 5.0 centrally set, hole. Its face bears a pattern of angled, raised bar and the intention might have been to suggest runes although no coherent letters can be defined. Diameter 30.0mm, Height 15.4mm, Mass 53.32g.

Cast copper alloy, Medieval (c. 1390-1420). Socket from a buckle of 'lyre' type, the only traces of the open frame being present. The socket is trapezoid and separated from the frame by a transverse groove. Its face bears what appears to be a pseudo-black letter inscription. Through the socket are two rivets which secured it to the belt. Buckles of this form were found at Meols, (Griffiths et al 2007, 102-103, Pl. 17, No 765) which was assigned to the Late Medieval period. Cast copper alloy fitting, possibly a Post Medieval handle from a piece of furniture or a Late Medieval buckle frame. C shaped with an expanded centre decorated with four transverse mouldings, two larger mouldings flanking two smaller. Cast copper alloy pommel cap from an Early Medieval, tenth century, Viking sword, Petersen Type S, Wheeler Type III, (Peirce, 2002, 102-107). The cap is lentoid and in the from of five conjoined lobes, reducing in size from the centre through which is a hole to accomodate the rivetted end of the tang. The cap is hollow and incomplete, most of one side is missing and there is a hole in one of the lobe. As is it difficult to see how this damage occurred it is possible that the cap was mis-cast. Cast copper alloy Roman brooch of 'Trumpet' type, 1st - 2nd century date, poor condition, the foot is missing and there is much loss of its original surface, the scrolled moulding on the upper part of the bow being almost lost. The bow is decorated with a central, transverse moulding flanked by two deep grooves and two smaller mouldings. The decorative details of the lower foot are lost. Cast copper alloy fitting, hollow, D sectioned with a 2.0mm wide x 0.9mm deep, square sectioned, transverse rib around its wider end. Both ends are now open but the opening on the flatter end may be a result of damage. The date and function of this object are unknown. It section, at 2.1mm at the open end and 1,0mm at the open end is too thin for it to be a Bronze Age gouge and a later date seems likely. Length 46.5mm, Width 27.6mm, Thickness 14.5mm, Mass 35.86g (including earth fill).
