An incomplete, copper alloy, hooked strap fitting of likely post Medieval date (AD 1600-1800). The strap fitting has been made from a copper alloy sheet that has been cut in a sub rectangular shape, with one end seemingly wider than the other. The narrow end has been bent backward to create a hook of some kind. An empty circular rivet hole (2.49mm internal diameter) is present. The object appears to be incomplete, as there appears to have been a break along part of what was the hook along with a missing corner in the top left hand side of the object.

Description: A complete, silver-gilt strap fitting. The object, a bar mount, has a central oval lobe that is decorated with regular raised pellets. From the lobe projects a pair of diagonally opposing tapering arms with semi-circular cross-sections. At the end of each arm there are sub-oval pierced lobes that are 4.29mm wide. The central lobe is domed on one side and hollow on the underside, whilst the arms are domed on one side and flat on the other, which would suggest that this side was fitted flush to another object. The object has a slightly yellow silver patina, except for o…
