A worn Antoninianus silver coin from the reign of Gordianus III and dating AD 238-244 (Reece Period 12). There is a section that has been removed from the coin from 1 o’clock to 5 o’clock and the coin is also slightly bent. [PM TR] P III COS [I]I P P reverse type depicting Apollo seated left, holding branch and resting elbow on lyre. Akin to RIC IV 88.
Obverse description: radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right.
Obverse inscription: [IMP] [GO]RDIANVS PIV[S] [FEL] [AVG].
Diameter: 22.29mm. Thickness: 2.19mm. Die axis: 12.
