Cast copper alloy fitting, possibly a Post Medieval handle from a piece of furniture or a Late Medieval buckle frame. C shaped with an expanded centre decorated with four transverse mouldings, two larger mouldings flanking two smaller. Either side of this are zones of fine, transverse grooves associated with which is what appears to be a 1.5mm long piece of silver wire. The decoration extends around the fitting. Its surviving end is expanded before narrowing again. The function of this object is uncertain and while its extended form can be paralleled on Late Medieval buckles (Egan and…

Cast copper alloy fitting, hollow, D sectioned with a 2.0mm wide x 0.9mm deep, square sectioned, transverse rib around its wider end. Both ends are now open but the opening on the flatter end may be a result of damage. The date and function of this object are unknown. It section, at 2.1mm at the open end and 1,0mm at the open end is too thin for it to be a Bronze Age gouge and a later date seems likely. Length 46.5mm, Width 27.6mm, Thickness 14.5mm, Mass 35.86g (including earth fill).

The object resembles a tag, handle or pendant. It consists of a straight shaft, oval in section, with a bulbous ovoid terminal at one end. The other end is formed into a bi-flanged socket, with the edges joined at the upper corners on one side by a strut, forming a circular perforation in this side. No corresponding strut joins the other corners and no damage is immediately perceptible. This end seems to have been intended for articulation or suspension. X-ray fluorescence analysis of the surface indicates that the metal is brass, an alloy of copper and zinc. No gold was detected. …

An unidentified cast copper alloy decorative fitting. The object is semi-cylindrical in profile, but the exterior surface has three faces. Towards one terminal the profile tapers to form a flat platform before a broken edge. The opposite edge is also broken, but this edge has some decoration in the form of two parallel transverse grooves and more fine grooves, whose motif is indistinguishable. In plan the object is rectangular. The reverse has file marks along the edge and fine striations on the reverse of the flat platform. This portion of the reverse is slightly off-set. The surface…

In plan the object is a sub-triangular shape, however the upper corner is the only original edge. This corner has a small, possible, rivet hole. The object is a plate of copper alloy which is slightly concave. The concave surface has a central iron protrusion surrounded by heavy iron corrosion and staining. Whether the iron protrusion is intentional or not is diffcult to tell from observation. On the convex surface, in the centre, there is a sub-circular sectioned, ientral stud. The stud, at the join of the plate, is sub-square in section. The stud has mutlti faceted sides. At …

The object is a terminal. The upper portion of the object is bulbous in profile. The upwards facing surface of this portion is decorated with a central pimple within a high-relief concentric ring. On the side of the bulbous portion there is a deep horizontal sub-conical shaped hole, which does not reach the other side. This hole is very regular and the edges are crisp. The lower edge of the bulbous portion is seated on a circular (in plan) collar, which is conical in profile. From the base of the collar an integral square sectioned rod protrudes. The object is length of oval sectioned copper alloy which is a 'U' shape in plan. The apex of the object is worn and has become more narrow. The wear is similiar to that on a finger ring, but the object seems too angular in plan to be a ring. The terminals of the object are moulded and inverted. Each terminal has an off set 'V' shape which may be incomplete. The object has a well developed light blue green/patina.

The object is uniface and a sub-crescentic shape in plan. One terminal is much for wide and has a broken edge compared to the other terminal. The original shape or size of the object is not known. The design appears to have been cast. The decoration consists of high-relief ring and dots, lozenges and linear ridges. In the present state the object appears to represent a bird, but this may be coincidence. The reverse is flat and undecorated. The object has patches of a mid green patina, with some corrosion.

The object is a '+' shape in plan. The terminals of each arm are slightly abraded, and therefore may not be the oringinal length. The centre of the '+' has a circular dome shape. The reverse of this dome is hollow. Otherwise the reverse is undecorated and flat. Only a trace of a heavy mid green patina remains.

The item is a circular cross-section length of copper alloy than varies in thickness and decoration. The complete terminal is domed with a small circular cell at the apex. Below the terminal the item is moulded forming a narrowed waisted section, below which is an even more narrow waisted section, before becoming slightly wider in diameter. The decoration changes so the surface of the item for 21mm has rows of evenly spaced small sub-pyramid shaped protrusions. There are six such protrusions in each row which cover the circumference of the item. There are seven rows, each slightly off-…

The item is a wooden terminal with two strips of lead covering it, which are held in place by iron rivets. The wood is sub-oval shape in cross-section, the terminal appears to have been cut, instead of broken or snapped. The cut surface is slightly irregular around the edge and pitted in the centre, possibly due to decay. The other terminal of the wood is slightly tapered in width, but not thickness. A rectangular strip of lead is folded vertically around the tapered terminal, and the ends of the lead are parallel with the cut terminal. This strip of lead is held in place by two ?iron …
