Three copper alloy looped plate strap fittings and a hooked ring, probably from a sword belt of Post Medieval dating (AD 1600 to AD 1700). The three looped plate strap fittings are all of the same type. They are sub triangular with a forked terminal on the front plate. The front is decorated with three transverse ridges, each decorated with small diagonal grooves. A rivet hole is present between the two lower transverse ridges, and continues through to the back plate. Copper alloy hooked strap fitting. The plate is triangular in plan with a concave underside.The top edge has a V- shaped notch in the centre, and the two sides taper down to a penannular rolled hook.There are two iron rivets in the plate. The fitting has a mid-brown patina. Two close parallels for the object are noted in Margeson 1993 "Norwich Households: Medieval and Post Medieval Finds from Norwich Survey Excavations 1971-1978", refs:257-258. An incomplete copper alloy sword belt hanger dating to the Post Medieval period (c. AD 1550-1700). The object comprises a cast plate with sides widening above the loops and tapering towards the one surviving trefoil terminal. The face of the plate has incised foliate decoration. One integral loop survives on the lower side of the plate and the remains of a second loop are apparent next to the complete example. Beyond the incomplete loop the plate terminates in a worn break. This is the bottom half of copper alloy sword belt fitting. The main plate has a central openwork roundel (now truncated at the top) that is flanked by three projecting spikes, below is a narrow-wasted arm that expand into a transverse bar with bifurcated ends (a parallel bar would have been mounted on the opposite side), this is where a rivet holes are situated for attachment, an iron rivet is still in place. At the terminal of one missing arm would have been a rectangular loop, see GLO-392D12 for a complete example.

Post Medieval (mid 16th to early 17th centuries) sword belt fitting; in plan the fitting is an asymmetrical plat, one terminal is a trefoil shape with a rivet hole, the centre is a sub-lozenge and then the other terminal is a broken edge. The lower edge has an integral broken protrusion which may have been originally a loop. The rivet hole has an incomplete iron rivet. The outer face of the fitting has a foliate design and in the grooves depicting leaves, there are traces of a black substance, possibly originally linseed oil. The reverse is undecorated. A cast copper-alloy strap fitting: a hooked plate from a post-medieval sword-belt fitting. The fitting is sub-triangular in plan with a moulded trefoil shaped upper edge and it has a horizontal collar at the base. The body of the fitting has a rivet hole, filled with traces of an iron rivet. The outer surface is decorated with an elaborate scrolled foliage pattern. The hanger has a slight bow to it, with the centre being higher than the two ends. The hanger consists of a sub triangular shape, with a rounded base (almost oval). Post Medieval copper alloy sword belt fitting, 79mm long, 40mm wide and 11mm, weight 14.33g. The object consists of a plate that is roughly foliate in form, with incised decoration forming a leaf pattern. It has a trefoil shaped terminal at one end but is truncated at the other. On the bottom edge there is a single loop. Still attached to the loop is a hooked tag that is again roughly foliate in form, with incised leaf pattern decoration. There is a rivet hole at the base with an iron rivet still in place. Date 16th-17th century.
