The strap fitting appears to be a type of strap slide. In plan the object is an elongated lozenge shape with a knop at each terminal. Below each knop are two parallel linear ridges. In cross section this cross-section is trapezoidal. One of the terminals is bent upwards. On the reverse the object is hollow. Protruding from each terminal a fragment of a stripe of metal protrudes. Each edge of the metal is broken and bent either forming a 'U' shape or is flush with the base of the object. The surface of the object has a mid grey patina.
