A post-Medieval lead bullet. Potentially an 18th century bullet due to it being less than 28 bore, however it is less than 34 bore at 7.49g (roughly 59 bore).

A post-Medieval lead bullet. During casting, the two halves of the mould do not seem to have been properly aligned, resulting in one half being slightly higher than the other. There is also the remnant of the sprue from casting. The bullet weighs 23.25g, which is just under 20 bore. Due to this, it likely is a 17th century carbine ball.

A post-Medieval lead bullet. It is potentially 18th century in date. This is because it weighs 7.23g, which is roughly 63 bore. This would likely mean this is the bullet from a miniature pistol, potentially one meant for the use by women at close range. One of the surfaces of the bullet is relatively flat, with a slight lip around part of the edge of the flat section. This could be damage from gases escaping the barrel whilst firing or from hitting a target.

A lead post Medieval bullet. The bullet is likely 17th century in date and was a musket ball, given that it weighs 57.19g, which is around 8 bore – 18th century musket balls were more standardised around 14 bore which is roughly 32.5g. There are some striations along the musket ball, but it is uncertain whether this is damage from firing or post-depositional damage.

A post Medieval lead bullet. It weighs 3.41g, which is around 133 bore. This, combined with the multiple flattened sections across the bullet, would suggest that this could have been shot from a shotgun. This is because it is likely to have been too small to have been fired from a miniature pistol.

A post Medieval lead bullet. It weighs 11.61g, which is roughly 39 bore. This would mean that it was likely a pistol ball, potentially from the 18th century and fired from a miniature pistol. There does not appear to be any form of damage on the object, which would suggest that it was not fired, since firing often results in striations or other forms of damage from gasses escaping the barrel.

Two cast lead alloy shot of Post-Medieval date (c. AD 1700 - 1800). Both are broadly spherical and there is no evidence that it has been fired. The surfaces are even and a cream / light grey in colour. Similar shot have been dated to the later Post-Medieval period however the date range should extend into the early modern period as similar projectiles were used in firearms throughout this period. This is possibly from an 18th century pistol. The shot measures i) 13.08mm in diameter and weighs 10.32grams. ii) 11.72mm in diameter and weighs 8.65grams.

A lead object, probably a bullet of Post Medieval date (c. AD 1600-1800). It weighs 5.79g, which is roughly 78 bore. This would suggest that it potentially came from some form of miniature pistol, potentially from the 18th century. The object has a hexagonal cross-section and there is an irregular groove running part way around the centre of the object, roughly from 12 o'clock to 6 o'clock. The object has a largely cream patina. Dimensions. Length: 9.95mm. Width: 9.69mm. Thickness: 9.38mm. Weight: 5.79g.

A complete lead shot dating to the Post Medieval period (c. AD 1600-1800). The object is spherical in form with the remains of a casting sprue on one edge. The object is covered in pits and scratches and has a light grey patina.  As stated by Leahy and Lewis (2018: 345), it is important to accurately record the exact location of lead shots or musket balls and cannon balls, because they can 'reveal the course of a battle or even tell us where an action took place.' Overall dimensions: 10mm in diameter and 5.4g in weight.
