Four pieces of cast lead shot or balls, dating from the post medieval period, about AD 1600-1800.
1. Lead Alloy shot, with a grey patina with signs of corrosion and a little bit of rust. Given it's small size could possibly be from a pistol. There is a small hole in the top centre, possible evidence of casting. There is no flattening or evidence the shot has been fired. The measurements are:
11.83 mm in diameter and weighs 5.8g
2. Lead Alloy shot, with light grey patina. Has a raised dimple top centre. Measurements are: 9.81 mm in diameter and weighs 4.9g
3. Lead A…

Three lead alloy shots, probably from a small musket of Post Medieval dating circa AD 1600-1800.
This shot has light brown to cream coloured with an uneven surface patina. Abrasion, caused by movement whilst within the plough soil, has resulted in the loss of some of the original surface detail. There is a casting sprue visible.
It has a diameter of 19.52 mm and weighs 35.1 grams.
2. This lead shot is broadly spherical in shape. It is brown to cream in colour with an uneven surface patina. Abrasion, caused by movement whilst within the plough soil, has resulted in the loss o…

It has a diameter of 16 mm and weighs 21.7 grams.
