A medieval copper-alloy seal matrix of fourteenth century date. The seal matrix has a circular base and a hexagonal waisted handle which terminates in a double collar with a trilobed perforated suspension loop above. The seal matrix has a central device depicting a lamb and flag, around which is the inscription 'ECCE AGNVS DEI'. This translates from the latin as 'Behold the lamb of God'. Seals with the Lamb of God design were quite common in the fourteenth century, especially in the 1330s. The seal matrix is 28.05 mm high. Its base measures 20.13 mm in diameter.
