A cast copper alloy seal box lid. In plan the lid is a lozenge rectangular and is decorated with four circular perforations in a lozenge shape. On the reverse there is a lip to the edge with a small gap above each side 'corner'. The lower corner has a knop and a circular rivet hole which has the remains of an iron rivet. The surface of the lid is abraded and has traces of a grey/green patina. The lid measures 35mm long including the hinge, and 29.88mm wide. It weighs 10.1g.

An incomplete Roman cast copper alloy and enamelled seal box and lid of Crummy Type 2 (Crummy 1987, 103) dating from 100-300 AD. Round and rectangular in cross section. At one end are two pierced arms that form a hinge. Attached between the arms is the lug of the lid. There is iron corrosion where the pin would of been located. The lid expands towards the centre before tapering to a circular knop at the base (3.3 mm wide). A copper alloy seal box lid. It is tear drop shaped with a small knop at the terminal. The surface is decorated with a raised linear motif, this consists of a cordate shape in the middle with a ring and dot in the centre and a pellet below, there is a second pellet above the cordate. Enamel would have been held in the recesses. This is all held within a raised border. The underside is plain and also has a raised border. The lid has a length of 42mm, width 21mm, thickness 3.5mm, weight 4.34g. An exact copy has been recorded on the database from East Yorkshire SWYOR-4F51F7

Copper alloy leaf shaped seal box lid, length 27mm, width 18mm, thickness 4mm, weight 1.44g. Elliptical in plan, there is a hole in the centre of the widest point with four concentric rings emanating outwards, in between two of the lines are stamped crescent shaped decorative lines running around the full circumference. There is a slight knop on the back edge. The underside is plain, except for a knop towards the widest edge, this would have been the pin support. Circular seal box. The lower cup portion has four circular holes in the base. There is a hinge cast as part of the cup which consists of two protrusions with remnants of an iron pin. The edges of the cup are slightly abraded. The lid has two concentric rings. The inner ring is broken by linear grooves. Breaking this inner ring is a high relief bird showing its' chest, wings slightly unfolded, and its' head turning right. The bird has been cast separately with a stud on the reverse.
