A complete harness pendant dating to the Medieval period (c.AD 1200-1400). The object is made up of a sexfoil pendant, suspended within an outer pendant. The outer pendant is also a sexfoil with narrow, rounded arches and a flat reverse. At the top of the outer pendant projects the suspension loop. A copper alloy Roman harness pendant dating to c. AD 100-300. The object has a cast heart-shaped plate with its cleft occupied by an oval suspension loop that is at right angles to its display plane. Either side of the suspension loop, there are incised nicks that are angled towards each other. The base of the 'heart' section leads to a phallic member with a discoid, elongated glans. The dimensions are as follows. Length: 52.74mm. Width: 22.76mm. Thickness (around suspension loop): 11.64mm. Thickness (at glans): 5.22mm. Weight: 12.11g.

A Medieval copper alloy harness pendant. The pendant is of the heraldic shield type with projecting suspension loop on top. The coat of arms on the shield has a blue background made from enamel. There is a triple diagonal line running from top left to bottom right and a lion rampant in each of the two halves. It is likely that these are the arms of the Bohun family: Azure, a bend argent cotised or between six lions rampant, although only two lions are shown on this item rather than six.
