Iron Age gold stater of the Western region, attributed to Boduoc dating to c. 25-5 BC. Obverse: [B]O[DVOC] on plain field – heavily scratched. Reverse: Triple-tailed horse right, wheel below, cross, crescent and two ringed pellets above forming hidden face.   Cf. A complete Early Medieval gold pseudo-Imperial tremissis in the name of Justinian I (AD 527-65) imitating Burgundian issues but attributed to the Merovingian Franks and dating c.AD534-65/70. cf. Lafaurie 1983 nos 73-92, esp 83-92; Belfort 5203 (listed there under Justin II). Ref: Lafaurie 1983: 114, 134-5; Belfort 1894: 64. The coin is complete and well struck on an irregular flan. The coin is 13mm in diameter.

Gold Iron Age stater dating from the mid 1st century BC to the mid 1st century AD. Obverse depicts a tree-like object situated on the left. Reverse depicts a striding horse with three tails, below the horse is a wheel. This stater is of the Dobunni type with no identified ruler. The Dobunnic territory stretched over Gloucestershire, Hereford, Worcester and into parts of Somerset, Wiltshire and Gwent (Spink 2009, page 34, example 374).
