A complete copper alloy badge dating to the Modern period (AD 1914-1918). The object has a round plate with an integral, tongue-shaped plate on the reverse for attachment onto clothing. The outer face of the circular plate reads MEDICALLY UNFIT within a garter surrounding the letter R in the middle. A possible Medieval to early Post Medieval lead alloy (late 12th to 16th century) badge: The badge is fragmentary and it appears to be the border formed by two decorated concentric rings jointed by intermittent pellets. The inner ring is decorated with ribbing and the outer ring is a wavy line with bevelled edges. Within the inner ring there is an integral cross which sits on a horizontal bar. Description: The artefact is cast from silver which has then been gilded on the outer face. The outer face has a moulded design which is in the form of a human head and a long neck, followed by drapery behind which two large wings emerge upwards. Below the wings and emerging from the end of the drapery is the rear of a lion. There is an asymmetrical openwork between the neck and wings. The reverse of the artefact has a trace of solder in the centre indicating another element of the artefact was, at one point, attached here, whether this second element was a pin or loop is not known. …

An incomplete cast copper alloy badge with a floral motif, of Post Medieval dating (17th to 18th Centuries AD). The badge is irregular in plan and cross section. The badge is openwork in design, with a central flower design. Two petals of which are present. Each petal has two layers - a top petal and a bottom petal and are convex (domed) in nature. The tips of the petal touch the outer circular rim. From the curvature of the outer rim, it would originally have an a diameter of 5 cm, with 25% of the rim surviving.
