Lead alloy medallion commemorating The Great Reform Act of 1832. There is a piercing on the top of the object's rim. The obverse has an image of Earl Grey with mostly illegible lettering around the edge. The little lettering which is still visible reads 'EAR[L] GREY 18[3]2' and 'PASSED THE REFOR[M]'. The reverse lettering reads 'LIBERTY, UNITY & PROSPERITY', surrounded by laurel leaves. A cast lead early medieval spindle whorl of Walton Rogers type A1 dating c.AD 800-1100. Description: The object is domed (beehive shaped) with a central circular aperture measuring 7mm at the top then tapering to 9mm where it emerges on the flat side. The flat side is plain, though has traces of a raised rim around the outer edge. The whorl is patinated an off-white. Measurements: 24mm in diameter (at widest point) 15mm high and 51.31g in weight. Cast lead alloy spoon handle terminal. The object consists of the rounded end of a spoon handle which bends up slighly. There also is a decorative tapering mid rib on its upper surface. It terminates with a break. The object has a light grey to brown patina and can be dated to the Post-Medieval period, (1500-1700). A similar example which can be found on the database is LVPL-B90C26.
