The centre of the item has a trapezoidal shaped hole (12mm x 7mm max) At each end of the `hole` are two arms. The thickness of these at the tips is 4mm. Each arm is slightly concave. The decoration of the arms are on the side faces as the hole point is vertical. Decoration is two vertical grooves at the tips of the arms, and two diagonal grooves in the centre of the arms. A third arm may have existed, but a broken surface is now left. The base of the item has a protruding platform around the hole.

The item is a bulbous hexagonal shape, which has six vertical faces which taper towards the base. The upper and lower faces are slightly rounded. On the centre of these two faces there is a square indentation. The indentation the lower tapered face is 6mm sq. whereas the upper one is 4.9mm sq. Could this be the internal portion of a pommel, and would once have had a cover?

The linch pin terminal is cast copper alloy. The external face is a circular 'disc' with rounded edges. The surface of this 'disc' has a sub-circular central hole, through which the iron pin is visible. The 'disc' is sub-circular due to a flattening of the edges on opposite edges. This flattening occurred in antquity as the patina covers these areas. The bracelet is made of thre three strands of iron. The three strands are twisted together, then forming a 'C' shape in plan. The terminals taper to a point, whether this is purposeful or not, is unsure. It is difficult to decide whether this band is a small bracelet, or more modern wire. But Johns does mention iron bracelets made in this way, and it was found on an Roman site which may suggest it possible being Roman.

Iron P-shaped brooch. The wings of the brooch are created by a cast copper alloy cylinder which terminates with a bulbous iron knop. The terminal of the wings show there is an iron spindle within the wings. The wings do have traces of iron on their surface as if they were originally encased in iron, but this is not certain. The spring is iron and is wounded around the wings, forming five coils with the external coils forming a bar underneath the bow. An incomplete wrought iron double pronged artefact, consisting of the tip of a flesh hook, of probable Roman dating (43 AD - 410 AD). It is irregular in both plan and cross section. It consists of a slender iron rod, expanding at the base into a triangular shape, into two points extending out at right angles from the rod. An unidentified wrought iron object of uncertain dating. It is triangular in plan, and circular in cross section. It consists of a hollow cone shape, made from a sheet of iron wrapped together and then fixed. It measures 62.77mm in length, 13.23mm diameter wide at the top, and 3.77mm diameter wide at the bottom. It weighs 20.5 grams. It is a mid to dark brown colour, with an even surface patina. A heavily corroded iron annular buckle or brooch with pin attached, probably medieval in date. The large size of the iron ring, as well as the bulky pin may suggest that this is a buckle rather than a brooch, although there does appear to be a pin constriction which tends to be more characteristic of brooches, although these may simply be products of the corrosion. The frame measures 54.74 mm in diameter and 7.06 mm thick. The iron pin measures 68.58 mm long. The object weighs 39.1 grams.

A corroded iron artefact: probably an arrowhead of medieval date. The object consists of a square-sectioned head which emerges from a flaring conical shaft, now filled with corrosion product. The shaft is abraded at it base. The form is similar to an arrowhead illustrated in Ward Perkins (1940, 69; ref. 7) which is dated to the 13th/14th century AD.

The cannon ball has a dark brown coloured patina across its surfaces. The object is an elongated triangle in plan with a rounded blunted point and rectangular projection at the opposing end. The rectangular projection would have allowed the iron blade to be attached to a handle. The object is flat and the blade tapers from the shoulders, the tip is possibly broken. Post Medieval (late 16thto 17thcentury) possible cannon ball: a broadly hemispherical corroded cast iron object which is heavily corroded. There are no signs of maker's marks or casting seams, but these may be distorted by corrosion. It weighs 67.31g (2.4 oz) and measures 27.41mm diameter. Although an inexact science, comparisons can be made with historic inventories of cannon shot, their dimensions and weights.
