The pin is worn. The two wings of the brooch project out from this, they are worn and circular in cross section. In one of the wings there is a white substance contained at the end. The bow projects in a right angle from the head, and narrows to a worn break. The bow is worn, there is possibly a raised ridge down the centre. An incomplete, copper alloy pin from an penannular brooch dating to the late Roman to Early Medieval period (c. AD 300-500). The pin consists of a barrel-like loop that would have fitted around the frame of the brooch. The centre of the loop is hollow, and the loop has three raised ridges, with the shaft of the pin extending from the central ridge. The shaft has an initial sub-rectangular cross section (3.30mm wide and 2.57mm thick) and tapers gradually to the worn break just before where the point would have been. The spring, pin, catch plate, foot, most of the bow, part of the wings, and part of the wing caps are missing. The head is 20.89 including the semi-cylindrical wings. A fragment of cast copper-alloy Roman finger ring dating to AD 200-300. Just under half of the finger ring survives with only the bezel and shoulders remaining and most of the the hoop is missing. The breaks of the hoop/shoulders are not recent. A cast copper alloy finger ring, which is gilded in places, and 19.85mm in diameter. The bezel comprises a slightly domed facet, 8.04mm wide, which has two faceted shoulders, approximately 1mm wide. The bezel has the remains of guilding.Either side of the shoulders of the bezel are moulded inserts, sub-ovoid in shape, one of which houses a dark shiny insert, possibly enamel. The other insert is missing.The hoop tapers to 1.61mm deep at the bottom, compared to 5.25mm at the bezel. Where the rings guilding has worn away, the ring has a dark brown patina.
