"A small Roman urn of red clay 4 1/8 inches high, 11 1/2 inches round the middle, 6 inches round the neck, and 4 inches round the foot. In shape it resembles a skittle" (J. Allies 1852 as quoted in Robertson). "The pot is now in Worcester City Museum. It is a small beaker, 4 in. high, and 3 1/2 in. wide, of fairly hard brown clay, with narrow upright neck, bulbous body and fairly narrow footstand." (Robertson 2000, 219).

Report by C Jane Evans: The narrow-mouthed jar is in Severn Valley ware, WHEAS Fabric 12 (Hurst and Rees 1992; www.worcestershireceramics.org), the most common fabric produced and used in the region during the Roman period. This particular form, with a simple out-curving rim and globular profile, is thought to be a long lived type, dating from the mid first century AD to the fourth century AD (Webster 1976, fig. 1.1). The coins were found with 38 sherds of heavily abraded Severn Valley Ware, probably the remains of the pot in which the coins were originally deposited. No further info.
